How to Create a Branded QR Code with RooQR
By RooQR Team · Published in Australia

Your QR code should make the next step obvious. RooQR lets you create a code, style it to match your business, and download it for your signs or digital content. Here is a straightforward way to get started.
1. Choose the action before the artwork
Decide where a scan should lead. RooQR supports website links, Wi-Fi details, contact cards, email, SMS, phone numbers, review links, PDF links, social profiles and plain text. A PDF code links to a file URL; it does not create or host your menu for you.
For a café, that might be a mobile-friendly menu. For a tradie, it might be a contact card. For a retailer, it might be your existing review page. Give people one clear reason to scan.
2. Decide whether the destination needs to change
Mate is RooQR’s free plan for static QR generation. A static code contains the destination or information directly, so you cannot change the downloaded code later. Big Red adds dynamic redirects, which let you update the destination of a saved code without changing its printed pattern.
Dynamic codes depend on RooQR’s redirect service. Static codes do not depend on a RooQR redirect, but a linked website still needs to remain available.
3. Use the design controls carefully
The builder includes colour, dot shape, corner shape and frame controls. Choose a sticker border or a banner label such as “View menu” or “Review us”. Big Red enables custom logo uploads. Keep the centre logo modest and leave clear space around the code.
- Use dark code modules on a light background.
- Avoid busy photographs behind the pattern.
- Make the banner say what the scan actually does.
- Check that decorative shapes still scan on different phones.
4. Download and test the real output
Choose your download from the preview controls. Use a high-resolution PNG for ordinary artwork, or the available vector and print options when your workflow needs them. Do not stretch a QR code into a rectangle or crop its surrounding margin.
Print one sample at its intended size. Scan it with at least two phones, in the lighting and at the distance your customers will use. Check the destination, not just whether the camera recognises the pattern.
