What RooQR Scan Analytics Can and Cannot Tell You
By RooQR Team · Published in Australia

Scan analytics can help you compare where people engage with your QR codes. They cannot tell you that every scan is a different person, a sale or a completed booking. RooQR’s reporting is designed to be useful while acknowledging those limits.
Tracking uses dynamic codes
A static code sends a phone directly to the information inside the pattern. RooQR does not observe that direct action. Dynamic codes use a RooQR short link before redirecting to your destination, which creates an opportunity to record verified activity.
Dynamic codes and scan analytics are Big Red features. The plan includes up to 50 dynamic QR codes and a stated allowance of up to 100,000 scans per month. Protective service-wide limits can also affect how much activity is recorded.
Counts are estimates of accepted activity
RooQR filters automated and abusive traffic and uses verification and protective limits. Some requests will not become recorded scans. Repeat visits, failed verification, network problems and logging limits can all affect the totals you see.
A scan count is not a count of guaranteed individual people. One person may scan more than once, and some genuine visits may not be logged. Tracking limits do not disable the QR destination.
Read device and region information carefully
Device and browser insights can help you decide how to present the destination. If most recorded visits are mobile, your menu or landing page should load quickly and avoid tiny text.
Region information is approximate where available. It is not precise GPS tracking and should not be used to identify an individual visitor or determine their exact location.
Compare placements with separate codes
Use separate dynamic codes for a counter sign, a flyer and a business card, even if they all lead to the same page. Give each one a clear name. This lets you compare recorded activity without guessing which printed item prompted a visit.
- Keep the destination consistent during the comparison.
- Check that each print sample scans reliably.
- Compare similar time periods.
- Look for repeated patterns rather than one unusually busy day.
Measure the outcome at the destination
If your goal is a booking or purchase, use the reporting from that booking or checkout provider to measure completions. A QR redirect is only the first step. More scans can signal interest, but they do not prove an increase in revenue.
